Tatsuya Arakawa LMFT > “I would recommend it to parents who have an upcoming middle school entrance exam and may be putting excessive pressure on their child, leading to a strained parent-child relationship.”

A testimonial from a father with a teenage child.

What kind of concerns or issues were you struggling with before receiving Tatsuya's therapy?

There were frequent arguments with my son, and I often ended up being too harsh with him. Looking back, I think I didn’t know the appropriate way to handle things with him. The fact that the middle school entrance exam was just a year and a half away also contributed to the tension between us.

How did Tatsuya's therapy help improve your situation?

I believe I was able to learn the proper ways to respond to my son.

What was your impression of therapy before and after?

Looking back, before therapy, I was in a mindset where I would unilaterally impose my values and expectations. After therapy, I developed the habit of thinking from my son’s perspective, and instead of trying to solve everything immediately, I learned to focus on what the best course of action as a parent was in the moment.

What did you like about the therapist?

I appreciated the logical and rational advice based on expertise in psychology. I also found it helpful to receive specific advice and coping strategies.

Who would you recommend the therapist to?

I would recommend it to parents who have an upcoming middle school entrance exam and may be putting excessive pressure on their child, leading to a strained parent-child relationship.
